Our values are &#8211; Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Responsibility.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The legal work handled within the Constitutional Law Team includes:<\/strong>   <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> Providing advice on complex questions of Commonwealth and state constitutional law, including advice about:<\/li>\n<\/ul><ul>\n<li>notices issued under s.78B of the Judiciary Act 1903 (Cth)<\/li>\n<li>inconsistency of Commonwealth and State laws<\/li>\n<li>limits on State power including issues relating to the application of Chapter III of the Constitution, and the implied freedom of communication about government and political matters<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<li> Advising on complex and significant matters to government, including:<\/li>\n<ul>\n<li>statutory interpretation in relation to matters that do not fall within any other team&#8217;s specific area of expertise<\/li>\n<li>miscellaneous Government law matters in very complex matters of fundamental importance to the State<\/li>\n<li>advising the Attorney-General in relation to their role as the First Law Officer, including ministerial correspondence and grants of fiat.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<li> Providing advice, and potentially representation in, matters involving the interpretation and application of the Human Rights Act 2019. This may include:<\/li>\n<ul>\n<li>providing advice to Crown Law&#8217;s clients about the proper interpretation of legislation, and the compatibility of proposed decisions with human rights<\/li>\n<li>providing advice to the Attorney-General about notices issued under ss 52 and 53 of the Human Rights Act<\/li>\n<li>assisting clients with the preparation of Statements of Compatibility for legislation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<li> Instructing the Solicitor-General and other counsel in complex matters about these areas in the High Court and other Courts (State and Federal).\n<\/li>\n\n<p><strong>Applications to remain current for 12 months.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Ad Reference: QLD\/691390\/26<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Closing Date: Wednesday, 24 th June 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Occupational group<\/strong> Justice &amp; Legal<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Intellectually stimulating, professionally engaging, personally rewarding and lifestyle accommodating is the basis of a career with Crown Law.
